I seriously doubt that when these contracts were signed it was Treliving's intentions and beliefs that they were the missing ingredients to turn the Flames into a contender. At the time, the team needed filler while awaiting the development and emergence of many of its young players and prospects. The problem with the contracts is that some of these players have emerged more quickly than anticipated. This is generally a good problem to have, but also a very difficult one to plan for with much precision.
