I nabbed myself a bottle of the Kilchoman Sherry cask strength. I can definitely say Kilchoman has a new fan now and I eagerly await their decade old stuff. You can definitely tell it's a young spirit but that flavor depth is amazing for something so young.
I understand the comparisons to Lagavulin etc. But it does do a disservice to both scotches if you try to compare them or think of Lagavulin when you consume this spirit. I think Harry hit the nail on the head with his earlier comments.
One thing I noticed, the aftertaste is ridiculously long. I had Laphroaig 10 about an hour after consuming the Kilchoman and the flavor was completely messed up as the Kilchoman flavor was still there and mixing with the flavor of the Laphroaig.
