There is a TON of talk on the forums these days about Hartley's job being on the line if he can't turn it around, and how his strategies aren't working etc. etc. etc.

The point of the question was to see if there's any point to getting rid of him since there's likely only much worse options available.

I actually hoped to have someone contribute something useful to the discussion and maybe bring up a candidate that had been overlooked until now, but most responses were either joke responses, responses that simply got upset at the idea of firing Hartley, or responses that advocated firing Hartley.

If people would just stay on topic, it would have been an interesting discussion, but no, everyone has to crap on the topic even though it's entirely hypothetical and I was on the records as saying I didn't think it would happen.

I could only think of one currently available candidate that would even come close to the same level of Hartley, and that was Carlyle (cue angry responses saying how awful Carlyle is).

I don't really love the idea behind this topic, but maybe now it will quell some of the "fire Hartley" talk that's creeping into every thread. It's fine if that's your position, but then have a plan to replace him or shut up and let him do his job.
The issue is that there is no other option right now. If Calgary ends up a bottom 5 team, I'd still put my money on them EXTENDING Hartley rather than firing him. We are a hair over 10 games in and you're calling for his head? It won't happen. Not now, not before the end of next year.

Get used to Bob Hartley, because he is the reigning Jack Adams winner and is nowhere near the main problem resonating with this team.
