I'm honestly curious why people think ortio is somehow a dud now. I think he can still be a great goalie. He has some things to work on but he is a rookie goalie. Not the easiest position to play in year one. Especially with the garbage our d have been pulling this season. Maybe he won't make it. Maybe he will. It's too early to know for sure.
I don't want us to make a move for a goalie. Rebuilding teams like us should only trade for younger goalies with small contracts and as of yet unfulfilled potential. I wouldn't want ward or bobrovski that's a scary thought.
We should stay the course. Sit tight. Let the team perform how they will. If we are out of the playoffs by the deadline we have an easy conversation with players like Hudler and wideman. If we can't fit them in let's move them for picks or prospects and call up players like kulak granlund and jankowski later on.
It's obviously not good to miss the playoffs but it may make some decisions and conversations a little bit easier. Not to mention I'd love us to move out the Raymonds and bolligs of this team and have the youngsters audition for a spot for next season
Let's just be patient Brad. Stay the course and gather assets that can become NHL players.
