If you want a diesel then you don't have a lot of options. There will likely be a recall (it's going to take a while before the requirements and details of the fix are approved) but I would imagine some owners won't get it done knowing it will probably reduce power/torque numbers. I don't see any negative to buying one as if you have to bring it into VW for a recall it won't be on your dime or you could just choose to leave your car as is.
