Would we be better off with just Hiller and Ortio? I highly doubt it. He did what he could to fill the position without using assets. The $8.3m between both goalies argument is getting old. Both expire this year and we don't need the cap space this year anyway. Literally doesn't matter at all unless you believe in the notion that the 3 goalie system somehow turned all our goalies to poo. I do not subscribe to that belief personally.
It's not like Treliving can just magically make a good goalie appear. Would you have been comfortable if he traded some high picks for Lehner or Jones instead? Keeping in mind both would likely look like garbage behind our terrible defense.
I hate to say it but Talbot might have been a good pickup at the price the Oilers got him for but that would've meant no Andersson or Kylington.
