Homophobia wasn't a word until there was a reason for it to exist. Namely, the backlash against the anti-homosexual cultural landscape.
Criticism of an ideology should never be considered bigotry.

Comparing homosexuality to an ideology is obvious a false equivalence - since homosexuality is not an ideology.

A better term might be Islamo-criticism.
