While I did not agree with some of the far-right leanings of the conservative base, he had a very stable and successful tenure. He was an intelligent and graceful speaker, and he did an amazing job to unite the fractured right. I was taught by people in his academic circle and a part of me will always respect Harper's vision and legacies.
He was both a great Prime Minister and also a dorky old white guy that liked cats, playing piano, and wrote books on hockey. The vilification has always seemed absurd to me. The prejudiced views of his opponents often strongly reflected their own political ignorance.
