It is interesting that it seems like the majority opinion here of Wideman is that he's best suited as a 5/6 guy and it would seem that fans wouldn't have any issues seeing him traded.
He has his short comings but what he brings offensively and to the Flames transition game is pretty tough to find. If you find one who is also good defensively, you're looking at a much larger salary than that of Wideman.
I think he's a good player and good value. I understand he might need to go though given Gaudreau and Monahan needing new contracts and Bennett the year after. The hopes are that Hamilton will fill the void when Wideman's gone but thus far, Hamilton's proven he is unable to do that right now (yes, he's young and its early, so hopefully that changes next season or the season after).
