Manchester United - "the We Want to Be the Biggest Club in the World choice". Was once a popular choice for glory hunters due to extreme success in the Ferguson era, but have struggled a bit since he retired in 2013. Have started to invest heavily in the transfer market in the last years, but are playing extremely dull football at the moment.

FC Arsenal - "the Attractive Football choice". Are known for having the ability to play very attractive football, but frustrate their fans with a questionable transfer strategy and a consistently bad injury record. Known for significant hot and cold streaks during a season. Always in the running for trophies, but never winning them.

FC Chelsea - "the Win Ugly choice". Have only been relevant for ~10 years now because of a Russian owner who was willing to invest heavily in the club. Could potentially play exciting football but generally choose not to. Not very popular with other supporters because of questionable character right now (Mourinho, Costa, Terry etc).

Manchester City - "the Sugardaddy choice". Were irrelevant until a wealthy Sheikh started to invest HEAVILY in the club. Basically bought their way to the top, but have loads of quality on the pitch as a result. Can play exciting football at times. "Old" supporters still have an inferiority complex after being overshadowed by United for a LONG time.

FC Liverpool - "the Football Romantics Choice". Were extremely successful in the 80s, but have been average most the times since then. Desperate for silverware, but at the same time want to do it the "right way". Their home fans generate what is probably the best atmosphere at any football ground in the top leagues.

Tottenham Hotspur - "the Underdog Choice". Perennially overshadowed by their London rivals in terms of success. Known for having a great youth setup and for developing top players, but rarely able to keep those players from moving to bigger clubs. Always in contention for a top 5 finish, but nothing more.

FC Southampton - "the Youth and Development Choice". Known for having an outstanding youth system and good scouting, but always lose their top players to bigger clubs every summer. So don't get attached to the star players, because there's a good chance they're playing somewhere else next year. Still manage to field a very good team every year.

Might write something about other clubs later if I have the time
