Appreciate the info and perspective, but good lord man shouldn't this sentence tell you that you shouldn't be doing this? I get that Uber is trying to make this 100% legal and claims to have your back, but I would be scared as hell to be in your position, despite the chances of it happening being quite low.
Having an auto insurance claim denied in the event of a large dollar claim is one of the few ways you can get hit with a life destroying lawsuit without malice in this country, and this potentially puts you in line for that if something goes wrong. At least you stated you won't be driving in the winter due to this, but still.
