That said, you need to be a pretty dedicated parent who actually has the correct skillset to handle it, so I wouldn't consider it for most of my kids.
On topic at hand, I really didn't follow exactly what happened with the molestation thing short of a few memes on Reddit, so I will err on the side of these people likely did something very bad in covering up abuse, but given that abuse is cyclical in nature, it was likely something they learned from being abused themselves (the kid, and the parents). That doesn't excuse them from fault, just makes me not want to treat them as things that deserve to be removed from existence, especially since I doubt anyone but the family knows exactly what the situation is.
