A webcam placed overhead would stop anybody from "testing" it.
A friend's husband teaches shop class and has one in his classroom. He says he figures it costs $200 in total to fix the saw afterwards. He has however seen it save a few kids' fingers in the time he has had it. The kids all know they have to pay $200 if they intentionally trigger the device. So far there has been one instance of intentionally triggering it, and "a couple" of times where it was triggered by accident.
