Doubt it's fake at all.
On somewhat of a tangent the whole 'allergen-free zone' drives me up the wall. As a kid I had insanely restricting allergies. Still went out for Halloween. Mom went through my bag when I got home and took out whatever I couldn't have (which was about 80% of the bag, and filled it up with a bunch of stuff she bought that I could have so I didn't feel left out. So if your kid is allergic to peanuts/gluten/sunshine whatever, your options are that, or don't take them out. Not get the whole neighbourhood to cater to your kids real (or made-up) allergies.
I don't normally hand out candy but this year I think I'm going to decorate the house and hand out gluten covered peanuts.
