Even if this was true, it's literally the worst possible reason to do something like this. Would you support boob implants or a clit ring for a daughter because "dudes dig it"? Even if she was an adult at the time, I doubt most parents would be happy with those choices.
It's fine to think this way about your own deal. If it gives you that little extra confidence boost, great. But it's no reason to do it to a newborn without their consent. If they want to do it when their older, whether for some perceived aesthetic issue, or a health concern, go for it, just like the above scenarios.
People do a lot worse things to their junk (and their bodies overall), but they do so by choice.
