If you look at the slow motion replay he was putting on the breaks after being pushed and then dives shoulder first at the goaltender. Not exactly sure what Ryan was thinking but that's charging into the goaltender. The official was right there in perfect view when he called the penalty and he clearly saw a player launching himself into the goaltender. Players are supposed to try and avoid contact and Ryan did no such thing. Easy call.
