How much of a threat can a group of people with no guns who just lost 20 people to essentially women and children be, when they had the element of surprise

I don't believe they are a rag tag group of people. I believe they set that trap that allowed Morgan to act the savoir.

To me you would need to be an organized large group to herd all those walkers in and set the trap.
