Aside from what is plausible, I would be shocked if the show killed Glen this way. Going forward, he would only be presumed dead or missing and the gang would probably never see his body to get closure. An army of walkers like that would lick the plate clean. He'd just be gone.
Hollywood does not kill off a beloved character of 6 long seasons, and miss cashing in on any of the emotional payday that his friends'/wife's reaction would provide. It's one thing to kill off protagonists, but you don't do it without getting as many viewer's tears as possible.
Having said that, if that was his death, I'll have more respect for this show than ever.
