Exactly. The fact that the Flames are playing within the division for 3 guaranteed spots means we have a better shot at getting a spot, instead of the only the division winners+top 4-8 spots like seasons past. As long as we beat and have a winning record vs other teams within the Pacific we should be fine. Ducks are doing us a MASSIVE favor with their failure, but they will go on some crazy 8-2 runs and jump back in the race. No reason we can't do the same.
Obviously not a position we want to be in, but it's not as bad as it seems.
