I don't care who gets traded as long as we get a good fit for the team now and moving forward. I fear Wideman will bring back a similar bad contract upfront and the options to move him are limited due to the NMC. I think he has been solid for the Flames but with Brodie coming back it could be Wides or Hamilton on the third pair and that is not ideal (I am aware Dougie is currently on the third pair).

Russell I would be okay keeping under 4 years and under $4M per season. I think he gets the better return so I am okay moving him.

Flames have 7 D making more than $2.6M and can't score. They need to make a move and no one will give value for Smid or Engellend so Wideman or Russell it is then.
