I've been to every home game and watched every road game this year. I've focused a lot on watching Russell to see what he does to be such a shot blocking machine. In doing that, it's been "visually" noticeable how bad he has been in the defensive zone. I give him credit for being a hard worker, never giving up on plays, etc... but I've lost count of how many times he's been laying on the ice, flipping over and making a last ditch effort to get his stick in the way of a puck he's lost the battle for.
The this morning on the Sportsnet 960 morning show, Pinder pointed out that he has the easiest zone starts and the lowest quality of competition on the team! That blew me away. he's going to want a big raise and apparently people in the league see value in him, so I'd be more than okay if he were the one to be traded.
