The story also illustrates the increasing divergence between the ends of American police forces and the ends of your average American in civil society. Something about the dissociative experience of an American police officer expecting violence in every setting, and using any means necessary to impose a semblance of peace.

I read something about the increasing role of police officers in American schools, and the lack of any complementary training to that effect. There is an increasing number of violent acts by officers on students with low or no provocation. This has nothing to do with the relative level of sociological violence within the environmental setting of the particular school or community.
