I have yet to see a fatal move by Treliving that has crippled the team. Ramo was a blunder but a short term one. He inherited Smid. I'm fine with Engelland for one more year. Raymond was not a great signing but every team has a player like him on their roster. The moves he made his first season was simply to get over the cap and have a semblance of an NHL roster given the outlook was pretty bleak in regards to the perceived talent at that time as the media and fans had the team front and center in the McDavid sweepstakes. The team overachieved due to the coach installing a creative system and creating belief in the locker room. It got them to surprise the league but it's hard to overachieve in consecutive seasons and the lack of talent in the forward group has caught up to them and the goaltending that was just good enough last season has fallen off the map. This team is still a few years away from being a true annual playoff contender.
