I used to be a letter carrier (mailman) and now I manage them. We deal with vicious dogs on a daily basis and we do not need a gun to do so.

Police officers should carry dog spray to deal with situations like this.

That said, I have little sympathy for people who can't control their animals. I've seen way too many people severely injured by dogs. I'm a dog lover by the way.
