Monahan turns UFA @ 25-going-on-26 (he was 20-going-on-21 this season)
Gaudreau turns UFA @ 27 (he is 22)
Not including this season:
Gaudreau has 4 RFA Years remaining (23, 24, 25, 26)
Monahan has 4 RFA years remaining (21-22, 22-23, 23-24, 24-25)
A two year bridge for Monahan means you have 2 RFA years plus 6 UFA years you could buy.
A two-year bridge for Gaudreau means you have 2 RFA years remaining plus 6 UFA years you could buy.
An eight year deal for Monahan buys four UFA years.
An eight year deal for Gaudreau buys four UFA years.
Absolute worst case scenario is a 4 year deal for Monahan or Gaudreau, putting either player directly into UFA at first opportunity.
As for Bennett, assuming he doesn't get demoted to Junior this season, he will be an RFA at 21 (2017 offseason) and a UFA at 26 (2022 offseason).
