I guess those only solve the death by entering the path of the train from the platform. Something more workable would need to be developed for the interactions at the level crossings adjacent to roads. Something that would prevent both people and cars at these sites could be developed. Not sure what though. For car, could at least put the barriers down sooner in advance of the train approaching.. For pedestrians, the life gate idea was good. Prevents you from simply pushing it open if you walk into it, and takes some deliberate act to move it once it is lowered down.
