Goalies:
- More made in public of it being a distraction then what it really was.
- The rotations were not working as they were not getting confidence.
- Purpose of demotion is to get Karri Ramo back going again to where he was before.
- Flames needs to be better, but goal-tending is not the main problem, though it is one of them.
- To give Joni Ortio a start when the flames are deeply struggling is not fair for him.
- His time will come. Right now Hiller feels like he can step it up.
- Kari Ramo will not impact Jon Gillies development
- Kari Ramo is a pro, and can be a big mentor for Gillies
- 3 goalie rotation does not work and was well aware of the risks when Ramo was resigned
- Joni is a good, young goaltender but we need confidence from Jonas Hiller.
- We've gotta build confidence starting in net and hopes he can give light to the Flames on Friday.
- We need to break it down from the very first shift all the way to the very end, on Friday night.
- Kari Ramo on waivers is not a punishment; more to get people going.
Defence:
- The league was catching up to Brett Kulak, it was time to send him down where he can continue to play top minutes with a good note in mind.
- Dougie Hamilton came in with a lot of expectations, but he is still a young developing player.
- Was in a lot of spotlight in a Canadian market
- Dougie told management he can be much better, management also saying he can be better.
- Dougie, similar to the rest of the team needs to find his game.
- Jakub Nakladal played great in training camp and Stockton
- Has the weight, ability to defend.
- His games in Stockton shows puck skills and a bomb of a shot.
- Smid will be ready for Friday.
Confidence:
- Looking at the Detroit game as a season reset.
- The second goal from Washington was a major let down for the team.
- The Flames are going through a rough stretch, but as cliche it is; the only way is work out of it.
- If you ask anyone, Brad Treliving has been miserable.
- Treliving believes he can be much better, talking/engage to the coach, players.
- Is trying everything he can to help the team but at the end of the day, it's getting the group to play better.
- Coaches are the main part to help them, but management can mentally help the players when they are down.
- Focus right now is, "Why this is happening right now."
- Feels an urgency, (no panic) still early in the season but the way their playing can continue on and that's the main concern.
- You can throw in a Cary Price, and we'd still be losing. We are not generating enough.
- Lot's of the game is concerning right now. It is time to clean it up and build off of a base.
To End:
Told the players,
"The thoughts can't be from the outside. As difficult as it is this season, we deeply believe in this group. The waves are high right now. We want to see who can step it up"
- This is a true test to the character of this hockey team
