$5.25 for a top scoring D-man who plays all situations and logs huge minutes is a problem contract? I don't think so. There were many dazzling plays last year that Wideman was a part of and the Flames don't make the playoffs without him.

Last year is history. This year he has lost a step or two. Last year he was not a fast skater but his positioning always kept him out of trouble. Now even with his positioning he is getting beaten bad by any speed.
