I think that's fair, and I don't think you'd find many stupid GM's who'd go totally overboard with that. This is a 32 year old we're referring to.

On the second note of Price, even if he's been hot and cold this season, there's a bit of game theory to resigning him. If we don't, you can be damned sure the Yanks will put in a bid. He's then taking wins away from us. Despite the bats killing it this season, you still need that Ace for the regular season. Whether he has the jitters or not in the postseason, a guy who generally does that well in the regular season will eventually have the confidence to figure it out. Maybe my $22M/year was a bit low, but I really doubt there's a GM who will give out $30M/year after his playoff jitters. That I could see Greinke getting, but it's because he did better in the postseason. That's just me, but I'm thinking Price has hurt his chances with his play this off-season. Plus with many teams being more fiscally responsible, I don't see too many $30M+ contracts handed out anymore.
One thing I am sure of is that David Price will never sign with the Yankees. He's said before that he doesn't want to sign there because of the "no beard" clubhouse policy (yes, some MLB free agents have taken this in consideration before) and $$$ isn't a motivating factor.

At this stage of the game, the only AL East team that I'm really concerned next year are the Red Sox. If they figure out how to fix their SP, I guarantee that the AL East will be a three team race next season between the Yanks, Jays, and Boston.
