I think the team will start playing better and will move back into a place similar to last year - playoff bubble team.
What I am not really in love with is how the team is constructed. For a rebuilding team, we have a ton of money tied up in bottom 6 forwards and bottom pairing defensemen. If the Flames want to make changes, which I hope they would over time, these guys are going to be hard to move.
Treliving gets a lot of praise here for the Glencross trade, Hamilton trade and the Brodie contract. But he owns a lot the juicy contracts (Burke too). We really have yet to see a trade where a player was moved off the roster other than deadline deals involving UFA's.
I really don't believe the Flames have any business being a cap team this year. That happened too quickly.
I don't mean to be all negative here. But as with the goalie situation, it's hard to see a clear plan. Now one smart move could really change that and I am convinced Treliving is extremely smart and hard working.
