It's not. If you feel this team after losing tomorrow to the worst team in the NHL has a greater probability to hit 102 (or even 100 point pace for 97) than not then fine. I argue otherwise that the balance of probability while still very early points to an uphill climb with the odds not in their favour.
Last year was a stat busting year for this team, it is very probable that dispite the added paper talent this team continues to struggle, or is not good enough to endure. It happens to all teams, see the Avs last year.
I am not throwing in the towel on this team after 5 games, but if they continue to throw away games they will probably look like the Kings did last year. A point or two out and a long of second guessing where the point they needed went.
