That's an interesting design for a split/ergo mechanical keyboard and makes me realize that most of the benefit is keeping the hands at an angle rather than having those smooth curves on all the key layouts. I recently tried the new Microsoft ergo keyboard and I couldn't type at all and my speed went from 100 WPM to 30 WPM. I realized that I don't need an ergonomic keyboard since my fingers are already positioned at an angle when I type.
If you don't type via the home keys in the rigid prescribed fashion, you don't really need an ergonomic keyboard. |
I like the split keyboards because you have full control over your wrist angle. You can even experiment with having the keyboard halves vertical which is supposed to be the most neutral position for your wrists. I've heard of having two keyboard halves vertically aligned on the chair armrests. Would love to try a setup like that out.
If we're going all out, I'd also like a zero-gravity chair/triple-monitor setup like at
ergoquest. But baby steps...
