Let's be fair to the mayor here. There is literally no other message that any ayor of this city could have said. You really think that the city is going to go ahead and say - "Go ahead and ride along with unlicensed and underinsured drivers, dont worry about possible legal issues that could come out of it!" ?
As the mayor's statement says, they are working on it. Uber's not going to get very far in actually getting governmental approval without requiring drivers to have commercial insurance and driver's licenses that allow "for hire" driving (Class 4)
There's good reason why the city cannot simply allow Uber to operate.
