I firmly believe that part. So many times over the past decade I got the impression people were just nitpicking or even fabricating holes in his game so they could criticize him, and I think it has to do with the Russian factor. I think a lot of people were butt hurt that the good ol Canadian kid lost the Calder to a "cherry picking Russian", and they resented him for it for the next 10 years.
I did NOT like Crosby for his first 3 years in the league. Nothing but a whiny entitled little b####. But the beauty of Crosby is he was able to identify areas he needed to work on (i.e.: whining) and fixed it promptly. Probably the sole reason when it came time to pick your favorite between Sid & Ovi I picked Ovi 10 years ago. Nowadays I simply enjoy watching the 2 premier players of the NHL go at it... (and I'm thankful AF they don't play in the West
