I think you are over rating, under appreciating what an really good EDL can do. I am pushing 300ish HP and about 375 ft/lbs of torque through the front wheels of my GTI, and I am have zero issues with under steer. There is so much electronic wizardry going on up front now, you have to be in 100% maniac mode for the car to get upset in a corner. Also APR tunes the car so well now, they have a torque limiter in 1st and second now to off set any issues.
