No you clicked on the trade speculation thread. But since the flames have 3 goalies earning around 9 million dollars combined most of the talk in here is inevitably going to be about trading a goalie(s) and goalie opinions and philosophy.
Its a good problem to have right now. Let the cream rise to the top and fuel he competition. We may stand to get some great goaltending from this competitive start to the season in the crease. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before a reasonable offer comes in but I personally think the goalie who will be on his way out will be hiller.
He is more desirable for any team acquiring him as he has a solid NHL resume. He is also less desirable for us to keep because I feel he needs a lot of games to get in his rhythm and does worse as a backup than Ramo. I think there are lots of upsides to keeping hiller because he is more proven, reliable and has less deviation in his play. Where as Ramo is either great or terrible. But I do think Ramo is more willing to share the crease and better suited mentally to being a backup and helping Oreo where he can since they play a similar style.
I do think we won a lot of games last year because of the huge difference in their playing styles. Hiller is like the ra dickey of hockey, and Ramo is our fastball guy. It would definitely mess with shooters and screw with their gameplan.
I prefer we keep all 3 for as long as we need to to decide who we want to put our hopes on getting us into the playoffs. It's like an extended camp for the goalies and one is going t get cut. I have a feeling it's hiller and it won't be all about how he plays but also who fits better with Oreo
