That's all well and good, but Datsyuk's hit was legal and well placed.
There's a big difference. Gaudreau is hard to hit cleanly with a legal check. But it's impossible to guard against someone stepping outside the rules like Thompson in that clip, who simultaneously boarded and cross checked him from behind.
If we go back over a year, Corrado absolutely clobbered Johnny with a vicious cheap-shot elbow in Penticton.
Not really fair to use blatant cheap shots as examples of how he can be hit.
