It's so easy to key in on a decision and call it a bad one when it didn't go in our favour.
How about when Gibbons left Sanchez in for an additional inning, or when he left Osuna in for an additional inning despite those pitchers not having been used in those roles during the season. But, he left them in there longer to avoid having to go to the guys like Loup, Hawkins any sooner than necessary. Now had that backfired, you would point at Gibbons and say it was a bad call. But it goes well, and it just gets totally over-looked and you harp on the one bullpen scenario that didn't work out.
This is baseball. Sometimes the other team just gets you. There has to be a winner, but it doesn't make it the wrong decision just because it didn't work. It'll never be perfect, it's about minimizing the risk and damage as much as you possibly can.
