I don't think people are arguing we should have kept him over others, just arguing that he is a decent NHL player and that, despite his tough luck on breakaways, the driving the puck into the ozone, forcing D to watch for that pass, and the general momentum that is generated by his play (whether it's breakaways, the "little guy" being physical, etc..) is beneficial.
He'll do well in MTL and I hope he does, he's worked his tail off. He's the type of guy that, if he can gain any smidge of a scoring touch, he could be very dangerous.
