No, the trend is that "tough" players have lost almost all of their value and are now liabilities on the ice. Defenders have to play differently since the 2004 lockout, gone are the goons who relied on grabbing and hooking like Darian Hatcher and in are the smart defenders with good sticks who play like Nicklas Lidstrom. Because of this, defence men like Derryk Engelland who are slow and bad are valued a lot lower than they would be pre-lockout.
