I am kind of curious to see what the general thoughts are around here. Personally, I am for 100% legalization for recreational use with strict control and taxation.
For me, this is one of the top election issues, although I am probably in the minority there as it really isn't being discussed much.
There is a new CBC story suggests that Calgary is the 8th most lax city in Canada (out of 34 cities and ahead of Vancouver) when it comes to actually pressing pot related charges. I assume that the law enforcement on the issue is reflective of the civil will within Calgary, but maybe I am wrong.

It goes without saying that Calgary and Alberta in general have historically preferred Conservative governments, of which the current one seems to prefer prohibition. Would electing a Liberal government for one term be worth getting this law changed?
If this was a poll, maybe the choices could be:
1. Legalize it!
2. Decriminalize it
3. Keep the status quo.
4. Make the laws more strict
5. Meh, whatever. Don't care, or undecided.
