Regardless of what he looks like or wears I don't see the problem with asking people to not park in front of your house. I didn't read the article, but maybe this was his final straw, his last resort. Maybe he's asked, politely, several times to not park in his spot and others keep doing it.
I know I don't own that strip of asphalt, but I think I have a right to park on it. As a side note I find it funny how you don't own the sidewalk in front of your house but if you want it repaired you have to pay for it...but still don't own it.
I've done it before. Left a note on a person's car asking them to please park in front of their house so I can park in front of mine. No problem they, stopped parking there.
Maybe it's not a huge deal in the spring/summer/fall but if you have to park across the street or away from your house in -30° weather and you can't plug your car in.
