Actually, k3 isn't a no no if you prep the K3 properly AND use hardwood floor nails that are long enough to catch the plywood or OSB that is under the K3.
I would re-nail the K3 down to the sheathing with ring nails and fill any joint and/or imperfections with thin-set concrete.
