I'm sure most of us would agree there are several prospects that we would rather have on the roster instead of Raymond.
Unfortunately, his trade value is probably negative, due to his lack of production and $3.15M salary.
That, and very few trades get made early in the season.
Demoting Raymond to the AHL would only save $950k on the Cap, and Shore would eat up $850k of it. So, only a $100k savings in Cap, but an extra $850k in salary.
My guess is that they keep Raymond, play him at LW on the 2nd line, and hope he has enough success to become trade-able.
The team usually carries 14 forwards, Granlund is waiver exempt, so Bollig and one of Byron or Shore will be be the extras. The other will have to clear waivers.
It's definitely a tough situation for Trevling.
