The Oilers have a mopey room, no leadership and a coach that couldn't do anything with a great Sharks roster.
Instead of Crosby, why not look at another 'generational talent' in Ovechkin. How many cups has he won? How was Alexandre Daigle's career?
In the end, whether it's Crosby, Ovechkin or Daigle you look at the story is the same: it's a team game. Daigle proves that not every 'generational talent' lives up to insane hype at the professional level. Ovechkin proves you need a team and a leader to take home the big prize.
Crosby was absolutely ushered into the league with a far greater opportunity of success than McDavid is.

To be fair, there's about as much evidence that Todd McClellan is a good coach as there is that Dan Bylsma is a good coach. He certainly hadn't proven anything when he started coaching Crosby.
