Given the immediate and unequivocal response from the police agencies accounting for their chain of custody and possession of the evidence and its packaging, this appears to me to be some disingenuous stunt.
What is truly astonishing to me is how all of this information is being leaked into the media and the lawyers are now entering the fray (after apparently resisting the urge for a few weeks).
Every leak of what is supposed to be secret information is a potential obstruction of justice yet no one seems to be planning to do anything to stop the trial by evening news. It's unfair to accuser, accused and the public as a whole.

Not a US justice/police force expert, but I'm pretty sure you can't just call up the FBI and have them show up on demand.
