With social media dating sites it has been shown that there is a big difference between what people say they want and what they actually do.
On-line dating for women is much different for women than men. An attractive woman in a city like Calgary can receive 50 new contacts per week. Most of it is really unwanted attention. Average looking people might get one new contact per week.
People have way more options available to them than they would have even 10 years ago. I'm not sure this is a good thing. People are quicker to give up on someone who isn't "perfect".
