I felt the same about Vancouver too. I can't see myself living there even though I go there every now and there for vacations. Vancouver is very un-Canadian like to me. You can go out in a sweater and there no snow on the ground in January there so I have a hard time seeing Vancouver as a typical Canadian city.
Having said that, no, I wouldn't live in Edmonton instead of Vancouver.
