Not true at all. I watched it happen on my street this past summer.

Had some people on my street call and report a vehicle that sat unmoved for a solid week and didn't belong to anyone on the street. I got to see it all unfold since they came to our door and asked if it was our vehicle.

Vehicle was tagged the next day and was gone a day or so later. I don't think it was towed however. I would imagine if the vehicle is registered to a property on that street they would likely do nothing, but in this case it wasn't registered to any household on the street.
