As for parking too far up, don't you realize that in a certain amount of space, a certain amount of vehicles will fit? If you pull up too far, you're ruining an extra space. That's not your ex neighbour being an a-hole, that him telling you that you're an a-hole.
This was in a McStarter home. I would occasionally park slightly farther up when one of the other neighbours or their visitors were parked in front of my house (there was room for 1.8ish cars in front of my house). With that said, I recently encountered said neighbour 5+ years since moving and although I disliked her at the time I just felt sorry for her now.
